That Kay sold for $650. Boy, someone really wanted that bass!Like I keep saying... Kays are getting to the point where they're beginning to be worth more as "A Kay!" than as A Bass.

Lets's face it, as a player, they are basically a 1,000-$1500 instrument, but it's not hard to find them selling for $2,000-$2500.

I found a badly refinished Kay at the local Sam Ash for $850. Quite honestly, I thought it was a horrible bass. I think the Strunals and Holbeins Sam Ash sells new are better.

Guys you want to try buying a Kay in Europe....in good condition Ive seen them go for 3000 pounds  I guess 4-5000 dollars
But as as a Rockabilly bass they are great...Sure there are better basses for Jazz etc but at least you can trust that a Kay will sound good and look good for our style of music. But sure we all would like them to be cheaper.

Sorry, not a fan of Kays. The necks are too thin, and so is the sound. Great if you like them, but I think there are many better basses for much less money.

I believe I'll hold on to my Kay. It's a 1937 M1, but it's quickly becoming my 401K.

I believe I'll hold on to my Kay. It's a 1937 M1, but it's quickly becoming my 401K.Man, that's obscene!

It's obscene that he asked five grand for a Kay, but really even moreso that he got what he was asking!

Not only THAT, but it calculates $314 shipping... I bought a bass from New Jersey, which shipped for $150, and another from NYC, which shipped for $120.

I wonder whether anyone who'll pay $5,000 is even a player, or whether it's going to just sit in the collection of some "investor" now.

It's an older Kay, a deluxe model, and in good cosmetic shape, so it should sell for more than a 1965 M-1 or something... but STILL!
