Default Reeper Recording software

Does anybody on here use Reeper Recording software... I am using the 30 day trial it seems to be pretty slick... The program is only 3 megs and can run of a flash drive.. It seems to be the 4th best recording package out there cakewalk is 5 but here is the kicker.. It is only 60 bucks and thats not a stripped down version.. It is a full professional version..

I would like to hear reviews from others that may use this..

Here is the site if anyone is interested

I use Reaper a lot. You can actually use it for free indefinitely, but us good guys bought the license. (2 levels - home user or professional). It is an awesome program, but the best thing about it is the support on the Reaper forums. You can ask a question and you'll probably have an answer is less than 5 minutes. Plus there is a certain camaraderie on the forums and some excellent articles about home recording. Check out the thread "Why do your recordings sound like ass". One of the best threads ever. Yes....Reaper = good! :)

Reaper is great. I've been using it since version 1.6. I've mixed (and tracked parts of) about a dozen records in Reaper, including 4 hillbilly casino records, Eve Hell & The Razors last record, the Atomic Rockets, and Shaky Deville. It's got great workflow, and is fully customizable. I do have Cubase/Nuendo, Sonar and ProTools, but only to transfer projects sent to me using those programs.

Sounds great. Do you mind if I ask how you are recording the upright? Give as many details as possible. I always struggle trying to get a good upright sound recorded. Thanks!

Here is my Setup: Tascam 1800 as the sound device for reaper. I am using a Audio Technica AT2021 Small Diaphram condeser microphone about two feet from the furthest f hole. I have gut Clef D and G With Lenzer wrapped E and A and the Bass is a 7 year old Upton Hawkes . This particular song originally I had the bass directly to a instrument input on the Tascam 1800. That did not sound great. It was very farty so I actually did the track over with the new set up. Just me yes Over Dubbed it..However I have also done recordings with the full band plug directly in to the Fishman Platnium Plus from the K+K to the TASCAM 1800. That also sounded good ok. First I played the bass with no amplification. Listen to the sound and tried to duplicate that sound using the Fishmans EQ's going into the line in on the tascam 1800.. .
Here is one of the songs we did with that set up. I think the previous way when mic-ing the bass sounds better. I think the bass in the song below sounds kinda floppy... Next time we records we are going to do it mic-ing the bass with the full band ... We are in a 12 x 18 room. rug on the floor. plaster walls. Not considered a great recording studio. I said almost because the singer is in a sun room with a marble floor with windows all around him. We call that the real sun studio.. I hope this helps...

I used Reaper for a bit. I actually had trouble following the manual (and that was coming off of Logic 5!) for a bit. Ultimately it didn't do some things I really needed it to...or didn't do them well enough.

I got a trial version of Samplitude somewhere around there and was instantly hooked. I'm on Samp 11 now - best onboard eq I've ever heard in a DAW.
